Key Features & Benefits
-
Meticulously Hand-Peeled: Bark and cambium are stripped by hand with a drawknife to create a smooth, clean texture while preserving the unique organic contours of the timber.
-
Naturally Dry & Stable: Standing dead timber offers superior dimensional stability compared to green logs, minimizing heavy checking and twisting over time.
-
Massive Sizing & Natural Taper: Generous tip diameters ranging from 13 to 24 inches taper gracefully down to larger butt ends, providing optimal structural mass for load-bearing applications.
-
Versatile Rustic Appeal: Perfectly suited for full-scribe log cabins, structural posts, heavy timber framing, and grand architectural entryways, and replacement due to log rot.
Estimated Taper & Volume Reference
Because these are natural products, individual logs vary in taper, sweep, and diameter. Usable volume exceeds a straight cylinder thanks to natural butt flare:
-
13" Tip Diameter: Ranges from ~14"-15" butts at 8 ft to ~17"-18" butts at 36 ft
-
16" Tip Diameter: Ranges from ~17"-18" butts at 8 ft to ~21"-23" butts at 36 ft

Estimated Volume
Logs taper from tip to butt, so usable volume is more than a straight cylinder at the butt diameter. Typical figures:
| Tip Diameter | 8 ft | 16 ft | 24 ft | 36 ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13 in | ~14-15" Butt | ~15-16" Butt | ~16"-17" Butt | ~17-18" Butt |
| 16 in | ~17-18" Butt | ~18-19" Butt | ~19-20" Butt | ~21-23" Butt |
| 20 in | ~21-22" Butt | ~22-23" Butt | ~23-25" Butt | ~25-26" Butt |
| 24 in | ~25-26" Butt | ~26-28" Butt | ~28-30" Butt | ~30" + Butt |
Volumes are estimates. Every log is a natural product and individual pieces will vary in taper, sweep, and diameter.
